TISSER L'ESPACE
Workshop
Marrakesh, 2023
Weaving Space is a workshop that explores how art, craftsmanship, and architecture can come together to create spaces filled with meaning and value. “Weaving space” is a powerful metaphor suggesting the creation of a social fabric that connects generations through art, craft, and architecture. This idea will be put into practice by organizing a workshop between women artisans and architecture students, fostering a dialogue between two seemingly different worlds that, in reality, share much in common.
This project will bring together artisans from the TIMENDOTES Association under the supervision of its president, Mohammed Amine Dadda, architecture students from the National School of Architecture of Rabat (ENAR), and students from the Euromed School of Architecture in Fez (EMADU), guided by Professors Iman Meriem Benkirane, Ouassim Bensouda, and Khalil Morad El Ghilali, who aim to explore new forms of collaboration between these fields.
The project seeks to create a center of excellence for weaving and architecture, where artisans and students can share their skills and expertise, and collaborate on the creation of a collective work that unites generations by combining traditional craftsmanship with modern architectural innovation. It will also provide training opportunities for young people, helping preserve traditional craft skills while encouraging innovation.
